“Architecture, of all the arts, is the one which acts the most slowly, but the most surely, on the soul.” Ernest Dimnet
Design Philosophy
I am passionate about design and pride myself in my ability to develop creative, innovative and sensitive architecture. I do not subscribe to a specific style but rather appreciate the importance of working closely with clients to interpret their functional needs and aesthetic preferences and to then translate these into a building which not only exceeds their expectations but is also delivered in budget and on time.
All sites have a unique context whether natural, environmental or built, and careful attention to these factors strongly influence appropriate design solutions.
A building development is a significant investment and I believe ‘good’ architecture should not only realise the clients brief but also make a positive contribution to the setting and to the broader environment in which it is located.
Minimizing the negative impact that the building and the building process has on the environment is an essential part of creating appropriate architecture. It is important that the design incorporates process efficiency, water conservation, energy efficiency and the use of appropriate materials & fittings. Where possible I prefer to select design elements which are either locally manufactured or support the local economy in some way and I include energy and water efficiency systems and components in all my projects.
I pride myself in offering a personalised, creative approach to the design process while delivering a professional service. Its important to me that I have been able to assist the client in successfully realising their vision, that the building reflects their unique identity and that we have all grown from the process.
